Under the shadow of the castle is a row of stone built cottages
and nestling in the centre
is The Copper Kettle Tea-room, now recognised as one of the finest
tea-rooms in the UK
Very cosy and popular, it captures the atmosphere of the traditional
English tea-room.
Hand carved oak panels complement the beams in the ceiling from
which hang a
collection of original copper kettles. The patio garden provides
a colourful suntrap for sun worshipers and where dogs are most
welcome.
The menu contains all the traditional 'tea-room basics' - cream
teas and teacakes, and
various other home made goodies!! Light lunches consist of toasted
and open
sandwiches, salads, ploughman and soup - again all freshly home-made
and beautifully
presented. Do try Pat's tangy pickle! There is also a table license
offering a selection of
lagers and wines.
Closed from mid-November to mid February.
Opening hours 10.30 - 4.45pm and closed Mondays.
