Trustees to bulk buy corn, which was stored in the castle, ground by the windmill then sold at reasonable rates to local people from a poor
shop in the East Ward which also sold household essentials such as soap and candles.
windmill is built on what may have been the site of an earlier tower which would have overlooked St Oswald’s Gate.
