The Court Room

The Court RoomOne of the principle rooms in the keep, The State Room now serves as a portrait gallery with paintings of the Forsters, Crewe, Sharp and Armstrong families. The 1972 portrait of Maria-Teresa, 4th Lady Armstrong, by Annigoni is hung in this room.

The large cabinets hold among other things a Sevres gold painted dinner service.

The windows would have been much smaller when the keep was first built in the mid 12th century, but have been enlarged in more recent times to allow more light in.
