The Kings Hall was almost entirely reconstructed in the late 19th century by Lord Armstrong. The three medieval arches under the minstrels gallery being the exception. The roof of the hall was carved from teak by Thomas Worsnop of Rothbury and took a nuber of years to complete. The paneling of the walls is also of teak with pollard oak panels.
Some of the armour on display was loaned to the castle by the Armouries of HM The Tower of London in 1976.
The large portraits hanging on the west wall show the 1st Lord Armstrong, Dr. John Sharp, William IV, George V of Hanover and Charles the second as a boy. A painting of Cigerran castle by JMW Turner hangs on the east wall close to the bay window.
