Admission on Saturday 13th June 2026 and Joust event info 20th and 21st June

Saturday 13 June: Due to a private event, the State Rooms will close earlier than usual. Last admission will be at 2:30pm (instead of 4:15pm), so please arrive before then if you would like to visit this area. The Clocktower Café, Tack Room and Viking Market will remain open as normal until 4:45pm. Please note that access to the Inner Ward and Battery Terrace will be restricted from 4:30pm. Online tickets will not be available for this date, but tickets can be purchased on arrival at the admissions office.

20–21 June (Joust Event): The West Ward will be reserved for Joust ticket holders between 1pm and 3pm. General admission visitors will be able to access the West Ward after 3pm once the event has finished. Please note that general admission tickets do not include guaranteed access to the Joust event.

Make sure you have a copy of your ticket/email with you before arriving for your visit. This can be on a device or printed.

Tickets are non-refundable. If for any reason you need to discuss a booking cancellation with us, please do so before arriving onsite.

Tickets cannot be transferred, swapped or exchanged. For any repeat visits, a separate authorised slip must be provided.

Original ticket must be presented on day of visit for entry. You may be requested to show a form of identification alongside your online ticket. Tickets are valid for selected day of visit only, regrettably we cannot allow entry on tickets other than the booked date.

Parking is not included in the admission price and must be purchased on arrival. £4.00 for the day.

Tickets have no monetary value. Tickets must not be re-sold. Not valid for our special ticketed events throughout the year. Tickets cannot be used as part of a school visit. Tickets not valid in conjunction with group rates. Lost tickets can only be replaced with a proof of purchase. Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded. Online tickets cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer/voucher or discount code. Online tickets must be shown on arrival via smart phone device or printed paper version.

If the date you wish to visit is highlighted pink this means that the online allocation of tickets has sold out for this day.

To offer a pre-booking facility, we have had to change the way our tickets are listed. If you are visiting as a family you will still enjoy the same saving as our former online ‘Family Ticket’ when purchasing two adults and three dependants (please click the family ticket).

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

We do not have time slots for pre-booked tickets. You can arrive anytime between opening and last admission. Please view the ‘Visit Us’ section of the website for the opening times on the date of your visit.

HHA members do not need to book ahead, you can turn up on the required day with your cards or temporary passes and go to the ticket office, you are guaranteed entry. We have a provision set aside for anyone with HHA membership even when we are at full capacity.

Our website does not support sales outside of the UK (you must have a UK billing address). If you wish to buy tickets and do not have a valid UK billing address, you can buy them from the ticket office in arrival.
