You can reach Bamburgh by car and by Public Transport, using the train and local bus service.

By car

We are 53 miles North of Newcastle on the A1 take the B1342 turning at Belford for Bamburgh, look for the grain silos and turn right.
From Edinburgh it’s 73 miles down the A1 then again the B1342 to Bamburgh.

All day parking is available at £3 per car and gives you access to the beach and village as well.

Public transport

Take a train to Berwick-upon-Tweed then a bus, there is a choice so visit for current train and bus times. You get off the bus at the foot of the castle.

By bus: A regular bus services is in operation. Run by Arriva and Travelsure the main route numbers are the X18 and the 418.

By rail: The nearest train stations are Chathill (six miles) Berwick upon Tweed (21 miles) and Alnmouth (22 miles).

Prams and pushchairs are welcome in the grounds but for Health and Safety reasons will need to be left at the entrance to the State Rooms.
Internal storage is provided and Hippy Chicks are available to borrow.

Only registered assistance dogs are permitted in the grounds. No other animals are permitted.
