Admission on Saturday 13th June 2026

We are closing the State Rooms a little earlier on the 13th June due to a private event and last admission into the State Rooms will be at 2.30pm (rather than 4.15pm)
If you are visiting us on this date please ensure you enter the State Rooms before the door closes at 2.30pm

Clocktower Cafe and Tack Room will remain open as usual and visitors can still enjoy the Viking Market in the West Ward until 4.45pm but access will be restricted to the Inner Ward and Battery Terrace areas from 4.30pm onwards

If you wish to visit Bamburgh Castle please purchase tickets at our admissions office on arrival - online tickets are not available to purchase for this date

Step Back into the 7th Century

Curious about Anglo-Saxon life in Northumberland? Visit Bamburgh Castle and meet Wulfthryth, a historical interpreter bringing the 7th century to life.

With King Oswald ruling Bebbanburg (Bamburgh Castle) and Saint Aidan spreading Christianity, Wulfthryth offers a unique insight into daily life, social class, and survival in early medieval England.

What to Expect:

  • Learn about traditional crafts like nalbinding, embroidery, and lucet braiding

  • Try hands-on activities including leather stamping and weaving

  • Discover the stories, customs, and challenges of Anglo-Saxon women
