At the heart of the living history encampment is the kitchen where butter, ale, cheese and huge quantities of other food to keep the warriors happy is produced. You will love to see food being cooked in the camp kitchen and the smell of wood smoke adds to the atmosphere and sets the scene.
There are a variety of crafts on display including silk and wool embroidery and gold work; chain mail making, a working bread oven, a working forge and a large warp weighted loom. There will also be demonstrations of manuscript illumination and the illuminator, is excellent at showing people examples of the artwork of the period and how the colours were achieved.
The group have an armoury where children and adults alike love to try on chain mail, posing for photos with swords and Dane axes!
